I’m leaning to ordering your semi-solid product because of the positive reviews, but color counts (historic house) so I’d like to be sure before I order.
You can order samples to test here. We do not have a list of comparable colors from different companies.

It is closest to a semi-transparent.
I’m looking for a semi transparent so we can see woodgrain still…but rustic brown looks not nearly light enough. I want a rich dark brown. Would maybe two coats of rustic brown work or is it possible to mix in some Oxford brown with rustic? Or would it not blend well being two different transparencys
All the colors will show the wood grain. You can mix colors to achieve a different color.

Thanks
And does the mahogany have a purplish cast to it?
Color depends on your wood type. It is more reddish in color, not purple.
I just received the sample of Oxford Brown & am pleased with the color. I know the Rustic Brown is semi-transparent and not semi-solid, but how would you compare the shade/tone of the brown? It appears slightly grayish on my monitor. Need a rich brown & trying to stay away from shades that have reddish or orange hues. Any insight/descriptions would be most helpful! Thank you in advance for your reply!
Color varies based on your wood type and age of wood. All wood turns out differently so you should not use your monitor to determine but apply it to your wood to see how it looks.

Sorry but no our stains will not cover the Rustoleum.

Would any of these stain colors cover the ink stamped on pressure treated wood? Advise on another website says to sand off the ink stamps, but I’m not sure if the stain will apply evenly if I do this.

1. what is the shelf life of the product?
2. will I receive a $15 credit for each pail, total of $30 if I order two 5 gallon pails?
$15 max credit is allowed. Shelf life if unopened is a few years. Opened and it depends on how well it is protected from evaporation. Could be a year or less.

There are not dealers in Canada but we can ship to you there. Prep with a deck cleaner after the sanding.
I like the look of your semi-solid stains but my wife wants to see a bit more of the grain. Would adding a bit of the transparent natural tone stain to the semi-solid be a good way to achieve that?
No and that would change the color of the semi-solids. You can still see the grain with the semi-solids.
I am trying to decide what color satin to get, and it would be extremely helpful to know what color stain was used in all the examples you have up on your photo page. Is there any way you can label what color stain was used in the photos?
Deb, all stain colors turn out differently based on the deck age, wood type etc. We purposely do not label the pictures as we do not want to give a “false” impression that it will look exactly like the picture. This is why we offer samples so you can test on your wood.
I would like to order semi solid stain with a medium brown shade and will buy samples Can you suggest two color combinations that I could mix? The Oxford brown seems too dark and I’m not sure about red tones in the sequoia and woodland. Would I start with a lighter semi solid and mix Oxford brown. Thank you for your expert advice
Deidre, maybe a combination of Mountain Cedar and Oxford Brown. Not sure on the ratio but start with the Mountain cedar and add some Oxford Brown to it to darken it to the color you want.
What kind of wood are the samples painted on.
Im staining 1200 sq ft of old cedar ,freshly sanded with new replaced boards in spots.
I know the stain will vary all over just wondering what your samples are painted on and what may be a good colour of stain?
Can I mix the redwood tone with the sierra redwood ? :-)
thank you
Yes you can mix the AC colors together. Any of our colors work well on Cedar wood. I believe the samples are on cedar. Color will still vary though.
Is there a photo of mountain cedar to get an idea of the shade? Is it like taupe?
Forgot to state that deck is PTP
I meant to ask, if I want a medium brown semi solid color, would I mix a lighter shade semi transparent with semi solid Oxford brown and can you suggest two color options to mix? Thank you for your support

Woodland is reddish. Oxford is brown. Look at the Rustic Brown as well.
Is there a rough texture in this product for a deck
No it is 100% penetrating so the texture should be the same as your wood is.
