I have a redwood deck railing and stairs that were installed around the middle of August. I live in Utah. Should I prep and stain now before winter, or wait until next spring? Thanks

Wait until Spring and clean and brighten for the prep.
Hello,
I am in the process of fabricating a deck/pergola/patio and the wood will be fir. The trim on our home is green. Do any of your semi solid stains come in that color? What would you recommend for the deck that is in full sun 326 days of the year at 6,500 ft. altitude. Nobody has an exposed deck around here with an adequate finish.
Thanks,
Gene S.
No the AC does not come in a green color. Best to let the new wood sit for 3 months first. Prep with the Restore A Deck Kit and stain with one coat of the AC in a semi-solid color.

Look at the Amber color.

Will it look too orange if we order the cedar stain? Is it best if we choose a different tint colour instead to achieve that same look on white cedar?
Colors look different on all woo types so hard to say if it will be orange or not.

We do not.

You cannot get cedar to look like teak. For a reddish brown color, you could try the sequoia.
Pressure Treated Pine decking, installed by carpenter with boards tight against each other. He says they will shrink and gap will show up in a couple of months. Its September in Ohio, and I’m not sure if I should stain it in two months. My questions are:
1. Should I wait the two months then stain?
2. If I wait until next spring, should I cover it with a tarp to lessen the water the boards will absorb?
Thanks
Wait until Spring but no reason to cover with a tarp. Prep before staining with the RAD Kit.

Is your transparent cedar tone really clear or does it contain some tint.
Not is is not clear but tinted. Might want to look at the Amber as well.
Most of your sample pictures seem to be of cedar wood. We have new PT pine. I’m wondering if the mahogany would look lighter than depicted in the sample on our wood? Does it have enough pigment to protect well against UV fading? Or is the color represented based on what it looks like on hardwoods such as Ipe? Your semi-transparents all look faded and washed out to me. Will the mahogany give rich color on PTP?
The color on the pciture for the Mahogany is on IPE. It will not look like that on PTP. It will be more red/orange on pine but it can be used on it. Might want to look at the Sequoia color for this.

Not the AC does not mask or conceal the grain of the IPE. The grain is shown through.
I just used the sample I bought from you and the color is Woodland Brown. The color has way too much red in it but it does not appear that color on your website. I was disappointed in the color. I am looking for a darker brown…is the Oxford Brown darker and less “red”. Thks
I had the same experience with the WOODLAND BROWN, I unfortunately made the mistake of trusting that the represented picture on the sample page was the BROWN color and purchased 6 5 gallon containers from “the sealer store” and ended up losing a total of $700. I feel that either the containers were mislabeled or the mixture was incorrect, however the sealer store didn’t agree, and proceeded to charge me for RED stain. I believe the product itself is an excellent stain however the color was COMPLETELY WRONG. Guess this has been a very expensive lesson learned.
I am looking for a stain for a pergola that I want to build. I plan on building it out of rough sawn douglas fir. 1) Can I apply the stain right away without waiting for it to weather? Is there any prep required? I want to do everything while its on the ground before constructing it. 2) Is there a larger picture of the rustic brown applied to a deck, etc. that I can view. 3) Can Armstrong Clark stains be shipped to Huntington Beach, CA?
Sergio: We tried a number of sample before deciding to go with the rustic brown and sierra redwood (for back rest and seat of the bench) on an old cedar deck. I have photos here

Hope that helps.
If rough sawn you can stain right away with no prep. Yes we can ship to your area. Sorry but we do not have a larger picture.

No color or tint in the product means you will not have protection from UV graying.
I live in NO Cal Can I buy locally? Where Otherwise, I guess I have to buy the samples

I am thinking about using Driftwood Grey semi-tram stain on my old pealing deck. I plan to prepare it properly. My question is can I later refresh by applying another coat say annually without having to sand and/or strip.

Lisa D, the Natural is tinted but a transparent color. There is not light color in the semi-trans. No you cannot use a solid stain over it without prepping first.
Can the Natural tone be used on vertical shiplap pine board and batten new siding for a large barn that is ready to stain or is a Semi Trans needed for pigment. Which is the lightest semi trans without orange tint to the finished job? Can we use a water base solid ever in the future? A couple of the windows were primed so will they need a paint or a solid on those? Thanks
Hi there. I tested the rustic brown on pt boards (one new from store, one about a month or so old). The stain was dramatically darker on the older board. Since I am told to wait a few months before staining a new deck should I expect the rustic brown to be very dark? It looked like oxford brown when compared to your site colors, in your experience is this normal for rustic brown? I love the color on the new boards (a medium, warm brown). Thank you.
The more absorbent the wood the darker to color will be. It is not nearly as dark as the oxford though. It should end up being a medium brown after the prep.
