We build new railing and stairs using treated lumber last summer (11months ago) and the deck platform we left old deck boards- never been treated FYI.. I’ve checked the new wood and it looks like it’s absorbing water so we plan to do it this month. My plan is to first lightly sand all boards with 60-80 grit sandpaper and orbital sander to get rough stuff off deck, then power wash the deck, then use the RAD KIT on all boards- old and new, then apply the stain. Is this the best method? Also- I know the new and old boards won’t look exactly the same, but will they be significantly different using the rustic brown semi-transparent stain?
