I am treating two-year old pressure-treated 5/4 pine decking, which has not been sealed since it was installed in the summer of 2014.
I am interested in the preservation of the wood more than anything else, unlike a stain or coloring. I don’t care if the wood is graying. I have an all cypress exterior on the house which is also naturally gray after weathering for twenty years.
What product(s)do you recommend for this deck application, specifically, the decking and top rails. Spindles are fine as they are. I have approximately 2000 s.f. to 2500 s.f. to cover.
What is the purpose of the Restore A Deck Kits? Again – I don’t care at all how the deck looks. I only want the deck to last as long as possible with the least amount of work.
I appreciate your response
I am ready to order as soon as I know what to buy and how much.
Thanks,
Bruce Lowrey

RAD Kits are for prepping and you always have to prep before applying. You cannot apply a deck stain without proper prep. Use the Kits for the prep. You will need about 3-4 of them. For the stain, look at Natural. It is lightly tinted. About 3-4 of the 5 gallons pails.

I am looking to stain my cedar deck (already 6 years old) and would like to know where to purchase it in Vancouver, british Columbia or Bellingham, Washington.
Also, which stain would be best for cedar.
thanks,
Linda
Linda, we do not have dealers there but we can ship to either place. It would be less expensive to have it shipped to WA if you have an address to ship there.

Can I send pictures of the log condition to get better help in deciding what prep and stain should be used? I am on my own in refinishing this and need to keep it as cost effective as possible. I love the sound of your product and am anxious to try it. Also, I have been battling carpenter bees and the after effects of woodpeckers so I need to use filler on major size holes. do you recommend a particular product that will work with your stains?
Love your interactive web site.
Sincerely Pegg Gusler, Allegan, MI
Wood filler will not blend when stained. Best to leave alone or try a caulk that is close in color to the stain that you choose. You can reply to your email with pictures.

I am wondering if Armstrong Clark stain is good for larch and if I should use the stain for hard wood since larch is pretty dense? Also I am from Canada (close to Montréal) is there any place where I can buy and test this product close from my home?
You can use it on larch. Just one coat, any color will do. No dealers in Canada, but we can ship to you.
Hello,
Will this work for a previously stained deck that has been sanded. I removed about 90% of old stain but some is still deep into wood. Also can you polyurethane after staining to keep it from wearing as quick
Thank you
Don
It really depends on what type of stain the old coating was. Meaning it will not cover or blend if the old stain was a solid stain. You cannot add poly over this nor should you ever use a poly on exterior wood. It does not work.
