I stained my mahogany deck last year with Armstrong Clark, the color has faded but the water repellent appears to still be working. What do I have to do to prep it for staining this year?

You need both the cleaner and the brightener, not the stripper. Sand first if needed.

I live in South Dakota. I ordered a sample on 10/1/19 and am still waiting for it to arrive, just updated it will now arrive 10/8/19 although it has stated on tracking it was supposed to be 2 day air arrival. Just wondering if there is any way it can come earlier. I wanted to get the samples on this week in order to pick color so I could get larger shipment of stain color. I only have a small window next week in the Midwest where the weather will be favorable to stain otherwise my chances of getting it done will be slim. May need to look at other products then.

I live in California. I am building a pergola and want to stain it. However I am required to use a flame retardant. Sfm standard 12-7a-4 and sfm standard 12-7a-5. I want to stain the wood not paint it and need a stain that is compliant with California’s standard.

What is the risk of semi transparent cedar stain peeling? I live in Canada; have aged cedar deck
AC is a penetrating stain, it does not peel when applied correctly.
I stained my deck with AC Hardwood Mahogany a couple of years ago. It seems every time it gets wet some of the color washes away. A couple of questions. 1) Is there a way to minimize it 2)Can I just power wash and re-apply the same stain?

1. No, mahogany is a hardwood and very dense. It fades over the years.
2. Use the RAD Cleaner and Brightener Kit while pressure washing for the prep.
Just finished brush applying 20 gallons of the semi-solid to my 160ft long cedar fence. It went on nicely. The stripping and cleaning was a PITA but overall for a 10 yr old fence I say it went well. Was more expensive than hiring someone but no one would have done it this well.
Can I apply a semi trans or transparent next year for extra protection?
BTW…I had to order 1 more gallon for my gate. Just not enough. 🙂
Looks great! No, you cannot apply a transparent to semi-transparent over a semi-solid. No need either. This fence will be fine for many years.
I plan to sand previously stained redwood to remove black stains & any residual material. Is it okay to stain wood that has exposed grain from, say 60 grit (or coarser) sand paper? I’m thinking of using your redwood semi transparent stain. Would the spread rate be the same for sanded wood? Thank you.

They want to use the Natural Tone Transparent for a new construction project and in your product data sheet it says not to use if wood is not at least 1 year old,will this product work?

How do your products hold up to the Arizona sun?
Very well. Darker tints will do better in high UV index.

I am in the process of ordering 6 gallons. The 5 gallon ships free so why do I have to pay $19 for shipping the 1 gallon. Both containers are coming to the same house. Really disappointing!!
That is not how shipping works. They charge by the box, not the house. The single must go in a separate box and they charge us $19 to ship it to you. We cannot waive the free shipping for a single gallon as we would lose around $10.

Yes but there is free shipping on the 5-gallon that is built into the price. It actually costs us about $30-40 to ship a 5-gallon pail so there is a large discount compared to ordering 5 singles.

We recently stained our deck with your product after using your strip and brightener kit. We are pleased with the results and stain but have an issue with I believe is tree sap coming up from one of the pressure treated boards on the outside deck. It sticks to anyone walking over it. Question: do you have any suggestions as to how to deal with this issue other than replacing the entire board? I appreciate your time and response.
Yes, that is sap leaching. No way to “fix” it from continuing to leach. If it does not stop on its own, you may need to replace the board.
Finally after a year with my new deck I was ready to stain. So nervous about a color but I found this website and it has been the best one of the best choices in life that I have made. The color is beautiful, the application a breeze (minus the task of prep work), and the results are gorgeous! Unfortunately I miss calculated and have to wait for another gallon to arrive but it is definitely worth the wait. Thanks AC!
