Armstrong Clark Stain 1 Gallon

I lightly power-washed my cedar deck to preserve the wood grain, but there’s just some residual stain here and there. Can I just keep it there and stain over it. Looks like I’ll need 2 coats of the semi-transparent.

If I am sanding the entire deck, do I need to do anything else before applying a semi-transparent stain?  And is the second coat recommended to be applied while the first is still “wet”?

I’ve got another unrelated question, so I’m posting it separately from my question below. My mother in law tried rolling on a semi solid maintenance coat after washing with oxy/dish soap. She’s afraid she over applied because it didn’t soak in well. Should she do anything or just let it keep drying? 

HelloWe have used Transparent Cedar on our deck (and fence).  We restrain it every two years, even three years.  On the off summers, we use a non bleach deck cleaner product which restores it pretty well.
Last summer we inadvertently applied Semi Transparent Cedar.  Just this weekend, we used Oxyclean and dish soap in place of a commercial product to clean the deck and it came out much more patchy than before. Some areas look much more “bleached” than we expected, and the stain is still quite evident in other areas.  We would like to apply just one coat of stain to correct the uneven look.
However, we ultimately would like to go back to the Transparent Cedar stain. Our question is – can we we put the Transparent Cedar over the Semi Transparent stain. Or do we need to apply one coat of the Semi Transparent for now and then wait to do the whole deck and clean/strip it properly before starting over with the Transparent Cedar?

Hello.  It has been 24 hours since I stained my deck.  I went with Oxford Brown solid as I had to repair some of the boards and felt anything lighter/semi-transparent wouldn’t match given the new wood/old wood construction.  I applied the wood stain using a staining brush during the day yesterday and the temperature was in the low 70’s.  I used a brush to make sure I didn’t over apply stain, frequently going back and forth over each board.  This morning there looked to be a few wet spots still so I went over them with rags per guidance on side of can (not quite 24 hours…more like 20).  After wiping off the excess it got pretty hot and the deck dried out nicely.  Afraid to walk on it just yet, I rubbed my fingers over several of the boards.  Even though the wood looks very dry, I was getting some stain off onto my fingers.  My fingers were not wet, but it was obvious the stain was coming off on them.  For prep on the older boards I power washed, gently, the cedar wood.  Then I washed the boards with a deck prep solution and scrubbed with a deck brush.  I then let it sit for 15 minutes before rinsing.  I also sanded the floor boards with 120 grit sand paper to help get off some of the older production.  I they used a blower to get all the dust off.  I waited 48 hours after cleaning to allow for maximum dryness before applying the stain.
We are expecting some rain tomorrow.  If I am still getting some of the stain off on my hands/shoes what would you recommend as far as next steps?  Cleaning with some light detergent & water and a deck brush followed by a good rinse?  I want to be clear that the wood is dry to the touch but my fingers are picking up some of the pigment.  The product on my fingers is not wet, but not dusty like if I didn’t get the sawdust off the wood after sanding up well enough.  This pigment comes off easily with just some soap & water, not staying on my hands.  Thanks for your help.
