We have a new cedar fence we are looking to stain. We want something not too dark, red or yellow. Which semi transparent do you recommend? I am between Chestnut, Cedar and Natural Oak. Thank you.
Colors will vary based on wood type and the age of the wood so hard to say what it will look like exactly on your wood without testing one of our samples: https://www.armstrongclarkstain.com/samples

Thanks. I have a brochure. Does the Amber for Hardwood and Softwood have UV and waterproof protection for a new Cedar fence?
Yes, it does.
Also this is what I would liket the fence to look like. In your gallery this is labled Amber on Cedar Fence but when I download the picture it is called Amber on Redwood. My fence is new Cedar. Is this a Cedar or Redwood fence? thanks
Cedar wood.
Which product do you recommend for the following situation?
1. ~1500 SF Pressure treated pine deck in Central Texas, most of which is 15 months old and grey, but ~6-7 boards were replaced 6 months ago and are still yellowish.
2. nothing has every been applied to the wood, but it has been cleaned with a wood brightener and brush
3. The deck is off the back of the house, and a small chlorine pool is off to one side. Large live oak trees grow over most of the deck, so pollen sticks and leaves drop heavily 2 times a year. Light traffic.
4. Of primary concern is longevity of application (protection), natural appearance, and ease of maintenance.
5. Seeking medium to dark brown color with no orange or pink/red hues. Perhaps Espresso (semi-solid) or Rustic Brown /Dark Oak (Semi-Transparent) I’d appreciate color advice. Thanks for the advice.
Use the AC stain in any of the semi-transparent colors. Rustic Brown is a very nice brown.
Will you please confirm that semi-transparent will blend the newer yellowish TP boards with the grey 15 mo. old ones?Does the Rustic Brown darken or lighten with time on pressure treated pine (TP)? I want to avoid too much orange tone.
New wood will not blend with older wood. The new wood is less absorbent, therefore will stain lighter. Rustic Brown is not orange, but brown.
Would semi-solid (instead of sem- transparent) blend the 6mo old vs. 15 mo. old boards?
Yes, it would blend better, but you cannot stain new wood with the semi-solids until it weathers for 12 months or longer.
I have a pressure treated pine wood deck that was originally painted with a semisolid dark brown stain over an original Cherokee red stain about five years ago. Which of your darker brown color products, semi-solid or hardwood stain, is the best protection to get another 20yrs from the deck?
Hello,
The AC products cannot be applied over any previous coatings as they are penetrating stains. You would have to fully remove the old coating first by power sanding. Did you do this?
No, have not removed the previous stain. If I don’t remove the stain, Can I only use an exterior paint for the deck?
Only a paint would cover it but it will most likely peel.
Eastlake, OH. Removed mold with a power washer. Prepped with restore-a-deck stripper/brightener kit. Stained with Chestnut – one coat. My deck is about 20 years old (came with the house). I absolutely love your product. It was the easiest stain I have ever applied. Highly recommend!! I don’t have before pictures but I have a photo after I cleaned and brightened and after completion.
Looks great!
Greencastle, PA. Used Semi-trans Chestnut, prepped with restore-a-deck kit, 1 coat applied. The deck is one year old and it is PTP. Love your product. Will recommend to everyone I know.
Awesome job! Looks great!
What color of stain is used on the deck in this picture? Thank you.
Semi-transparent Cedar on clear (no knots) aged cedar wood.
Is Oxford Brown and Walnut brown both brown? Do they have red undertones? Trying to put it up against red brick house
Depends on your wood type and age of your wood as to the final color. They are both brown but if your wood has some red, then it could be highlighted somewhat.
Your picture on the home page with the tree that is rustic brown. What type of wood is it on? I have treated pine
We believe it to be Clear (no knots) Cedar wood.
